How Teams Work
Teams are for academies and coaching groups: one lead coach and the coaches who work with them.
What a Team Is
A team is a lead coach (often the academy owner) plus the coaches on their team. Each coach keeps their own coach page, plans and prices. Athletes buy from each coach on that coach's page.
Who Collects the Money
Sales a team coach makes are charged on the lead's Stripe account. Before paying, the athlete is told which business is processing the payment.
If the lead's Stripe account can't accept payments at the moment an athlete buys, that sale is charged on the coach's own Stripe account instead, and the coach keeps all of it.
Subscriptions a coach already had before joining the team stay on the coach's own Stripe account.
How Each Coach Is Paid
The lead and each coach agree a split in the Team Agreement when the coach joins. Stripe's card fee and FormLab's fee come off each sale once, and the split is applied to what is left. Both coaches can open the agreement from the Team page.
The Team page shows each payment and the share each coach earned from it. The lead pays each coach their share directly, outside FormLab. FormLab records and reports what each coach has earned; it does not hold or send that money.
FormLab charges a platform fee on each payment, and Stripe charges its own card-processing fee; the two are deducted separately. The current rates are published on the fee schedule.
Adding a Coach
- Go to "Team" in the main navigation
- Invite a coach by email and propose the split
- The coach reads the Team Agreement and accepts it
A coach who isn't on FormLab yet gets an email with a link to sign up. Their sales are charged on the lead's account from the moment they accept.
Leaving a Team
Either coach can end the team relationship from the Team page at any time. From then on, the coach's new sales go to their own Stripe account, with no share to the lead.
A subscription that was being split when the coach left keeps being split, on the lead's account, until that subscription ends.
