Submitting Videos & Viewing Feedback

Video submissions are the core of FormLab. This guide covers uploading videos, tracking their status, and watching your coach's recorded video feedback.

Uploading a Video

To submit a video for review:

  1. Go to your Subscriptions page
  2. Find the subscription you want to use and click Upload Video
  3. If you have multiple subscriptions, select which coach/subscription to submit to
  4. Add a descriptive title for your video (e.g., "Backhand driving form - Feb 2024")
  5. Optionally add notes for your coach about what you want feedback on
  6. Select your video file from your device
  7. Click submit

Your video will immediately appear in your subscription's video list with a "Submitted" status. Your coach will be notified and will review it in the order it was received.

Upload limits: Each subscription tier has a monthly video review limit. Check your subscription page to see how many reviews you have remaining this billing period.

Multi-Angle Submissions

For comprehensive form analysis, you can upload multiple angles of the same throw:

  • Add multiple angle files to a single submission (e.g., a side angle and a front angle together)
  • Use consistent naming so your coach knows they're related
  • Mention in the notes that you've submitted multiple angles
  • Your coach can tab between angles during review to see your form from different perspectives

Best angles: Most coaches recommend at least a side angle (perpendicular to your throwing direction) and a front/rear angle. This gives a complete view of your mechanics.

Video Status

Each video moves through three statuses:

Submitted

Your video has been received and is waiting for your coach to start reviewing it. Coaches typically review videos in the order they're received (FIFO - first in, first out).

In Review

Your coach has started working on your feedback. This typically takes 24-48 hours depending on your coach's schedule.

Completed

Your coach has recorded video feedback. Click on the video to watch their analysis alongside your original submission.

Watching Your Coach's Feedback

When your video status changes to Completed, your coach has recorded video feedback for you:

  • Click on the completed video to open the feedback view
  • You'll see your original video alongside your coach's recorded analysis
  • Your coach narrates what they see, stepping through your form to highlight key points
  • Watch the feedback as many times as you like to absorb the coaching

Replay anytime: Your coach records a video walkthrough of your submission. Click the feedback to watch their analysis alongside your original video. It's like having a one-on-one coaching session you can replay anytime.

Tips for Great Submissions

Get the most value from your video reviews by following these filming guidelines:

  • Good lighting: Film outdoors during the day or in a well-lit indoor facility. Avoid backlighting that makes you a silhouette
  • Stable camera: Use a tripod or prop your phone/camera on something stable. Shaky footage makes it hard to analyze form
  • Full motion: Capture your entire throwing motion from x-step to follow-through. Don't start recording too late or stop too early
  • Appropriate distance: Position the camera so your entire body is visible throughout the throw, with a little extra space on all sides
  • Multiple angles: If possible, film both a side angle (perpendicular to your line) and a face-on or rear angle
  • Include context: In the notes, mention what you're working on or what issues you're experiencing ("My drive is fading too much" or "I feel off-balance in my follow-through")
  • Representative throws: Submit videos that represent your typical form, not just your best or worst throws

Quality matters: The better your video quality and angles, the more specific and helpful your coach's feedback can be. It's worth spending a few extra minutes on your filming setup.
