Coach Getting Started Guide

Welcome to FormLab

FormLab is a platform that connects disc golf coaches with athletes seeking to improve their form. As a coach, you can:

  • Create subscription tiers with flexible pricing and limits
  • Record video feedback on athlete submissions
  • Communicate with your athletes through messaging
  • Manage session bookings
  • Receive payments directly through Stripe Connect

Creating Your Account

To get started on FormLab:

  1. Go to the FormLab homepage and click "Get Started" or "Become a Coach"
  2. Sign up with your email address
  3. During onboarding, select "Coach" as your role
  4. Choose your theme preference (light or dark mode)
  5. Complete the onboarding process

You'll be redirected to your coach dashboard where you can start setting up your profile and subscription tiers.

Setting Up Your Profile

Your profile is the first thing athletes see when considering subscribing to your coaching. To set it up:

  1. Navigate to "Profile" in the main navigation
  2. Add a profile photo (recommended 400x400px or larger)
  3. Write a compelling bio that highlights your experience and coaching philosophy
  4. Add your specialties (e.g., "Backhand Form", "Putting", "Distance Driving")
  5. Set your location so local athletes can find you
  6. Choose a custom URL for your public coach page (e.g., formlabapp.com/coach/your-name)

Tip: Your dashboard shows a profile completeness indicator. A complete profile (100%) helps you appear more professional and trustworthy to potential athletes.

Creating Subscription Tiers

Subscription tiers are the coaching plans you offer to athletes. To create your first tier:

  1. Go to "Subscriptions" in the main navigation
  2. Click "Add Tier" or "Create New Tier"
  3. Enter a name (e.g., "Basic Coaching", "Premium Package")
  4. Write a description explaining what's included
  5. Set the monthly price (can be $0 for free tiers)
  6. Set the video review limit per billing period (e.g., 4 videos per month)
  7. Optionally set a session limit for coaching sessions
  8. Toggle the tier active to make it available to athletes

Free vs. Paid Tiers:

  • Free tiers ($0/month) can be created immediately without connecting Stripe
  • Paid tiers require Stripe Connect to be set up before activation
  • You can create multiple tiers to serve different athlete needs

Connecting Stripe

To accept payments for paid subscription tiers, you'll need to connect your Stripe account:

  1. Go to "Subscriptions" in the main navigation
  2. Look for the Stripe Connect banner or button
  3. Click "Connect Stripe"
  4. Complete the Stripe onboarding process (you'll need business information, tax details, and bank account info)
  5. Return to FormLab once Stripe onboarding is complete

Once connected, you can activate paid tiers. Payments from athletes will go directly to your Stripe account.

Important: FormLab uses Stripe Connect Standard. This means you maintain full control of your Stripe account and customer relationships. FormLab collects a ~7% application fee on top of Stripe's processing fees (~3%), for a total of approximately 10% in fees.

Your Dashboard

Your dashboard is your coaching command center. Here's what you'll see:

  • Ready for Review: Videos waiting for your feedback, shown in FIFO order
  • Unread Messages: Quick access to athlete conversations
  • Upcoming Sessions: Sessions scheduled in the near future
